And more recently, generative AI has given rise to games that grow, evolve and change to accommodate the player’s style and skill level. A new report from Unity, the real-time development platform used by many developers today, found that four in five game developers surveyed felt positive about the use of AI in their games.

The most popular AI-detected games include a number of scrolling shooters, where the player’s spaceship must avoid or defeat enemies that drop into view and try to ram or destroy it. These are followed by roguelikes where the player must find and defeat a powerful boss or complete a quest to earn a reward.
